At EHN Canada, accreditation is one of the many ways we hold ourselves accountable to the highest standards of care. Our programs are independently assessed by Accreditation Canada, using public, evidence-informed standards that apply across health care and social services.
Accreditation goes beyond a one-time inspection. It is an ongoing process designed to support accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement in care.
Our Accreditation Status
EHN Canada is Accredited with Commendation through Accreditation Canada’s Qmentum Global™ program. This status is awarded to organizations that demonstrate a higher level of performance against national standards.
Accreditation is timebound and reviewed on a regular cycle. Organizations must demonstrate continued adherence to standards and respond to recommendations over time to maintain their accredited status. This reflects an ongoing commitment to quality and safety.
What Accreditation Means for Patients and Families
Accreditation demonstrates that an organization is committed to meeting recognized standards and continually strengthening how care is delivered. For patients and families, it offers added confidence that programs are grounded in more than company goals and self‑assessments for quality.
Through accreditation, programs are reviewed by independent peer assessors who evaluate how care is delivered in practice, including policies, safety processes, and day‑to‑day operations. This means families are not asked to rely solely on what an organization claims about itself. Care is evaluated against publicly developed, evidence-informed standards that are shared across the Canadian healthcare system.
Accreditation also supports accountability over time. Findings and recommendations help guide improvements and inform how care is delivered between review cycles, rather than treating quality as a one‑time check. While accreditation does not guarantee individual outcomes, it reflects a structured commitment to transparency, consistency, and continuous improvement in care. For EHN Canada, Accreditation with Commendation represents the next step in our commitment to providing world-class mental health and addiction care.
The process involves teams across clinical services, operations, governance, and support functions working together to meet standards and respond to feedback. Accreditation findings are used to strengthen systems, inform training and education, and improve how care is delivered across programs.
Most importantly, we do not view accreditation as a finish line. Instead, it provides structure and accountability for ongoing quality improvement, helping EHN Canada to identify both strengths and areas where further progress can be made.
How the Accreditation Process Works
Accreditation through the Qmentum Global™ program is a rigorous, multi‑stage process. It begins with a structured self‑assessment against comprehensive standards that span governance, leadership, risk management, safety practices, and clinical care. These standards are detailed and evidence‑informed, covering hundreds of criteria designed to assess how organizations operate in practice.
Organizations then undergo an external assessment conducted by trained peer reviewers. These reviewers assess documentation, observe care environments, and engage with staff to evaluate how standards are applied across programs and services.
Following the assessment, organizations receive feedback and, where applicable, recommendations that must be addressed over time. Ongoing monitoring and follow‑up are required to maintain accredited status, reinforcing accountability between accreditation cycles
